The card blank front was die cut using Sizzix die #660845 Card, Diorama gatefold (Thinlits Plus) and the white centre circle was cut using the Circles Sizzix Framelits die #657551. The bird house was cut from white card using a Marianne Design Collectables die – bird house #COL1308. I coloured both die cuts using Copics and Promarkers to get the best colour match to the card blank. The greeting was computer generated and cut using Sizzix Framelits Banners, Fancy #658601

Valentine
This is a new technique to me – the half cut. Once mastered, it’s a technique that you wonder why you've not used before.
To do this, open your card blank (you will be working on the inside!!). Divide the left hand side in half, light pencil marks will do. Do not score, fold or do anything else. Place your chosen die along the half line and secure if needed (with making tape, sticky note). Now for the important bit - we are only going to cut the right hand side of the die, so make the plate sandwich so that it only sits on the right hand side of the die and run through your cutting machine. Remove die, score along pencil mark (avoiding die cut area) and you’re done.
I used the Precious Marieke die #PMI0027 Filigree heart from the romance collection. I cut a second filigree heart from red paper and carefully stuck this to the card blank.

A very special Christmas card
I really enjoyed making this special Christmas card.
The gold card blank is die cut using the square panel from the Sizzix die set #660845 – Thinlits plus Card, diorama Gatefold. I use this die set a lot as it is so versatile.
The poinsettia is made using the Sizzix Thinlits die #658865. Having assembled the card, I decided it needed a box to finish it off (oh, and it wouldn’t fit in an envelope!).
I find box making a bit of a challenge but this one was OK – I even managed an acetate window.

Finally, Christmas cards
Well, that’s not bad, it’s only taken me 6 weeks to catch up!
The base for the tree was cut from red card using Sizzix die (framelits with stamps) #658276 Merry Christmas tree
I had great fun playing with the buttons . . . . . . .

A Christmas birthday
A dear friend of ours celebrates his birthday on Christmas day. I always aim to make him an unusual card, just so that it stands out from the Christmas cards.
The front of the card blank was shaped to form the top of the piano. The keys were cut from white and black card and added to the card blank. The roses are hand made, fiddly to do but oh-so worth it.
